ANGELA SCHEDEL

Vice President, Community Resilience,Taylor Engineering, Inc.

Dr. Angela Schedel is a Vice President at Taylor Engineering in Jacksonville, Florida and leads the Coastal Planning group. She oversees a team of engineers and geologists whose projects cover a variety of activities including sand source and geotechnical investigations, dredging and dredge material management solutions, erosion control measures, shore protection, beach monitoring, and resilience planning for local municipalities, the state of Florida, and federal clients. Her team helps clients adapt and achieve resiliency against hydrology/hydraulic changes, environmental and ecological changes, disasters, and other risks associated with climate change and sea level rise.

She is a career Naval Officer, having served 25 years as a helicopter pilot and an Assistant Professor of Ocean Engineering at the U.S. Naval Academy. She has a Bachelor’s in Ocean Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy and a Masters and PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Maryland. Dr. Schedel’s research interests focus on climate change resilience and adaptation. She currently serves on the Florida Building Commission’s Hurricane Research Advisory Board and is a Community Resilience Educator for the National Alliance of Preservation Commissions.
